A discussion in Rome between institutions and companies, in the presence of Minister Francesco Lollobrigida, to strengthen agricultural and industrial relations between Italy and South Africa.

Farmfront took part in a meeting in Rome dedicated to strengthening agri-food cooperation between Italy and South Africa, organised by Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo at the Residence of the Ambassador of South Africa to Italy, H.E. Nosipho Nausca Jean Ngcaba.

The event was also attended by the Italian Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida, while the South African Minister of Agriculture, John Henry Steenhuisen, joined remotely from South Africa.

Representing Farmfront were Andrea Pellanda, Group CFO, and Andrea Bertellini, Regional Sales Manager.

Towards the Joint Italy–South Africa Agricultural Business Forum

The meeting served as a preparatory moment for the Joint Italy–South Africa Agricultural Business Forum, scheduled for 9–10 June 2026 in Cape Town. The initiative will involve Italian and South African companies with the aim of further strengthening commercial and industrial partnerships in the agricultural sector.

Among the topics discussed were digital technologies applied to agriculture, advanced agricultural mechanisation systems, agro-processing and precision agriculture solutions.

Opportunities for cooperation between Italy and South Africa

During the meeting, the Director General of ITA – Italian Trade Agency, Lorenzo Galanti, recalled the strong trade relations between the two countries, noting that Italy is currently South Africa’s tenth largest supplier and that there is significant potential to further strengthen economic and industrial exchanges.

Participation in initiatives of this kind confirms Farmfront’s international commitment to developing collaborations and projects related to technological innovation and the efficient management of resources in agriculture — areas that are increasingly strategic in addressing global challenges linked to agricultural productivity and sustainability.
